The rules for using Aegis. Short version: use it in good faith, do not try to break it, and understand that the in-server currency is not money.
By adding Aegis to a Discord server, using any of its commands, signing in to its dashboard, filing a ban appeal through its website, or playing the public casino demo, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, do not use Aegis.
You must also comply with Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Where anything here conflicts with Discord's rules, Discord's rules win.
Aegis is a moderation and community bot for Discord, with a web dashboard at aegisdashboard.xyz and a casino activity that runs inside Discord.
It is self-hosted and maintained by an individual, not a company, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Discord Inc.
You must meet Discord's minimum age requirement for your country — at least 13, and higher in some places. If you are not old enough to use Discord, you are not old enough to use Aegis.
To add Aegis to a server you must have the Manage Server permission there, and the authority to accept these terms on that server's behalf.

If you add Aegis to a server, you are responsible for how it is set up and used there. That includes:
Aegis is a tool. The operator does not moderate your server, does not review your configuration, and is not responsible for how your staff use it.
A server owner or administrator may apply to have their server shown on the Aegis homepage. Applying means you agree to your server's name, icon and member count being displayed on a public page. No invite is published and members are never named.
Applications are reviewed by hand and may be refused for any reason, including a name or icon the operator would rather not host. A refusal can carry a written reason, which is sent to whoever applied. After three refusals a server can no longer apply.
A listing can be removed at any time, by you on request or by the operator without notice. Being listed is not an endorsement of a server, and the operator does not review or take responsibility for the content of a listed server.
Aegis includes an economy with a virtual currency, a shop, auctions, fishing, and a set of games including slots, blackjack, crash and others, playable in chat or in the casino activity.
Because of that:
Server administrators may enable or disable any game for their own server. If you would rather your community had no gambling-style features at all, they can all be turned off.
The dashboard is for configuring servers you have permission to manage. Do not attempt to reach servers you do not manage, share your session, or use the dashboard's endpoints outside the dashboard itself.
The casino activity runs inside Discord and is subject to Discord's rules for activities as well as these terms. Money in the activity is the same virtual currency described above, and the server decides the outcome of every game — attempting to influence results from your own device is a violation of these terms.
The same casino is also playable as a public demo from the Aegis listing on top.gg, without a Discord sign-in and without adding Aegis to a server. The demo hands every visitor the same play money, is not connected to any server's economy, and keeps nothing from it beyond a count of how many games have been started at each table.
A server can switch ban appeals on. Where it has, a ban notice from Aegis carries a link to an appeal page on this website. Appeals are written there rather than in Discord because Discord does not let a bot message, or take a button press from, somebody it shares no server with.
Filing an appeal is voluntary. You sign in with Discord so the appeal can be tied to the account that was banned, and you can only appeal a ban on your own account. What you write goes to the moderators of the server that banned you and is read by them, so do not put anything in an appeal you would not want that server's staff to see.
The server decides. Aegis does not judge appeals, and the operator does not review, reverse or intervene in a decision a server's staff take. A server is under no obligation to answer, may deny an appeal without giving a reason, and may block you from appealing there again. An approved appeal lifts the ban in that one server and, where a channel can issue one, puts an invite to rejoin on your appeal page; it does not affect any other server, and it does not erase the record of the ban.
If your server takes appeals, answering them is a moderation decision like any other and section 5 applies to it.
Aegis is provided as-is and as-available. There is no uptime guarantee and no service level agreement. It may be down for maintenance, may break, and may be affected by Discord outages entirely outside anyone's control.
Features may be added, changed, or removed at any time. The operator may discontinue Aegis altogether, and will give notice in the support server where it is reasonably possible to do so.
Some features carry storage limits, so that one server cannot use up capacity everyone shares. Ticket transcripts are capped at the newest 1,000 per server, and closing a ticket beyond that permanently deletes the oldest. Limits may change; where a change would remove data, the dashboard shows how full the archive is and offers a download so anything worth keeping can be saved first.
What is stored, where, and for how long is set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
In short: removing Aegis from a server deletes that server's data by default, unless an administrator has deliberately chosen to keep it. There is no backup for you to restore from — do not rely on Aegis as a record store for anything you cannot afford to lose. Ticket transcripts in particular are capped and roll over, so download anything you need to keep.
The operator may remove Aegis from a server, or block a user or server from using it, where these terms are broken — with particular attention to exploiting bugs, abusing the economy, or using Aegis to harm people. Serious cases may be actioned without warning.
You can end this agreement at any time by removing Aegis from your server. There is nothing to cancel and nothing to pay.
Aegis, its name, its logo, its dashboard and its source remain the property of its operator. These terms grant you permission to use the service — nothing more. You may not rebrand, resell, or redistribute Aegis or pass it off as your own.
Content you create through Aegis — your configuration, custom commands, welcome messages, and similar — remains yours.
Aegis is provided without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. No promise is made that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any defect will be corrected.
Automated moderation is imperfect. AutoMod, scam detection and raid defense will sometimes act on something they should not, and will sometimes miss something they should have caught. They are not a substitute for human moderators.
To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for any loss of data, profit, goodwill or opportunity, arising from your use of or inability to use Aegis.
This includes, without limitation, wrongful or missed moderation actions, loss of configuration or economy balances, downtime, and anything a server's own staff do with the tools Aegis provides.
Because Aegis is provided free of charge, the operator's total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid for it, which is nothing.
These terms may be updated. The date at the top always shows the current version, and material changes will be announced in the support server. Continuing to use Aegis after a change means you accept the updated terms; if you do not, remove Aegis from your server.
